Happy Valentine's Day Dolores by Barbara Samuels

Dolores had a horrid habit. She would always be sneaking into her sister Faye's room. One day Faye had had enough. Dolores didn't go into Faye's room for quite some time. One night Dolores saw Faye slip a box in her drawer. When Faye was at soccer practice Dolores peeked in the box. If you want to find out what was in the box read this book for yourself.

Last night I finished reading Julia Gillian and the Quest for Joy by Alison McGhee. It is a very long book that I really liked. In this book Julia Gillian and her frined Bonwit have both told lies. Also their lunch room teacher breaks her leg, so they get a substitute lunch room teacher named Dumpling Man. All the kids in Julia Gillian's school don't like Dumpling Man. Julia Gillian and her friend Bonwit find out that Dumpling Man's real name is Vince Wintz. I really liked this book because I liked finding out more about Julia Gillian and her life since I read the first Julia Gillian book a while ago.

TV Moms

Right now I am reading TV Moms at bedtime. This book is by Ray Richmond. It is long but I am really enjoying it. I have read a lot of chapters like The Flinstones and The Brady Bunch. I also have read The Cosbys and Bewitched. A lot of these chapters are about TV shows that I have watched. My favorite part of each chapter is that they include called Classic Mom-ents that talks about the best parts of the show.

Abby Takes a Stand

In November I read Abby Takes a Stand by Patricia C. McKissack. This is something that really happened in 1960. Abby is a black person back in the time of segregation. My teacher explained that segregation means black people and white people could not eat at the same restaurants or go to the same schools, or drink in the same drinking fountains. The people in Abby's town are tired of being treated badly. They keep on having meetings on how to stop it. Finally they think of something. Part of the plan is that adults will sit in restaurants that only serve white people. The best part I liked about this book is that it is about a true event.

Two nights ago I read White House Q&A, a Smithsonian Book. So here are some facts about the White House.

1. The White House gets a fresh coat of paint every 4 years.
2. The White House started out grayish brown.
3. The Rose Garden is just outside the Oval Office.
4. Theodore Roosevelt had bears and raccoons and a lot of other animals.
5. When John Adams was president only 6 of the thirty six rooms were finished when he moved in.

Find some more interesting facts. Read this book!

Last night I finished reading Abigail Iris The One And Only by Lisa Glatt and Suzanne Greenberg. Abigail Iris gets to go on a trip for spring break with her friend Genevieve to San Francisco. Abigail Iris has only been to San Diego before. While they are in San Francisco they visited Chinatown. I really enjoyed this book. I heard about it from my friend Japhy's mom. If you would like to figure out what happens, read Abigail Iris the One and Only. I think there is going to be a suries of Abigail Iris.

Snow Day # 3

I just finished reading Get Well Soon Mallory by Ann M. Martin. In this book Mallory gets sick. It turns out that Mallory has mononucleosis. Mallory has to get better before Thanksgiving because they are going to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. I really like The Babysitters Club books and I think you will too.
